Harlequin

The dry
scrape of—old
crows cawing

off in the ash
trees—
seems pretty

silly on an otherwise
lush July morning;

but then—so does

the guy walking
by seeking diamonds,

skimming those woods,

pretty—
in a collar and shirtsleeves.
